I regularly got 25+ in all of my E320 sedans, same gearing as the '87 300D with a nice efficient engine and almost 100hp more! I'd imagine the wagon will take a 1mpg hit on the highway. I always ran premium in mine, required according to M-B. Still, premium is cheaper than diesel.

My wife's E500 will also get 25 on the highway at reasonable speeds, that's pretty easy to accomplish with a modern engine. Of course, you have to put up with driving a video game.

Now is it running (even with the head gasket issue) and driving at that price?

I'm going with $200 + $400 shipping.

... he said the shipping was 1/2 the purchase price of the car, so your guess should be 400 shipping, and 800 purchase, or to get it under the cwc requirements... 600/300...

I hope My e320 gets better than 24 now that I replaced the thermostat. It wasn't ever getting to operating temp with an open broken thermostat. Now I need to do the math again to see what I'm getting. I do put premium in. I joined Sam's Club. The difference in fuel price is 30 cents per gallon compared to the place across the street from Sam's.

If you are going to count shipping in the requirements to get into the cwc then you might as well include the tax on registration (wait thats just here in the state of North Taxolina).

I say the shipping cost doesn't count. If the price of the car was 1k, then he's in.

My totally sorted 110k example with a new head never got better than low 20s.

The common laundry list on these cars isn't cheap, but they sure are beautiful and reliable once all sorted out.
