So when they rust out there's really nothing there, and its fine as long as the jack points are okay. I would have thought there would be more structure inside. Good to know!!

Yeah, I would have thought so too but just the jack point and what I've seen so far is the rust will eat the seams and lower part of the jack point..so you'll end up with a big hole.
Actually, I found a place where you can buy a 126 rocker panel. IIRC it was $70 or so.

Is that yellow coating wax? Someone told me, and I am not sure if its true, that they dip the doors and such in a wax to prevent rusting.

If you look under your carpet above the rocker you will notice lots of rubber plugs, These are access points to clean the area and reapply the wax.

Yes it is a special wax. It was sprayed inside all of the body/doors/body to prevent rust/moisture damage.

I dont have any of this wax but I've got some of this internal frame coating stuff...seems to be pretty good for this project. I've been spraying it in all the internal areas that I work on...

You've got a good camera there - what camera do you have? I tried a similar shot on my W123 but failed.

They could probably make a fortune if they advertised on here! $70 is a pretty good deal (I assume unpainted or in primer? I can't see these pictures at the moment being at work). I may have to resort to getting a whole new panel if my repair efforts don't work. At any rate, thanks for the pics as you repair your car, they are quite helpful!
