1987 300D Diesel leak near IP
So after the big snow, started 87 and noticed there was a puddle of diesel under the car. Upon closer inspection, there seems to be a drip of diesel fuel coming from the rear inside corner of the Injector Pump. Tried shining a flashlight to get a closer view but did not see anything, hoping it was a hose or fitting but it does seem to originate between the IP and Block. Has anyone come across this before?

The lower half of the IP is filled with engine oil. If the leak appears to be coming from between the engine block and the IP, I expect it is running down there from the top, probably the DV seals.

Like Jeff said, start with inspecting delivery valve seals. I had a slow leak in one or two (where it just looked wet), it became a slow drip and then suddenly went to "prime losing, puddle forming" bad.

It does appear to be coming from the top of the IP where the lines feed the injectors.Saw the DIY Post and PM member for spline socket. Sounds like an easy but precise process... It will be interesting,

The delivery valve seals are an easy job. You do need that spline socket.
