I agree that its a good thing they're offline.

Legal manuals directly from Mercedes are only $20, so why bother stealing such a useful and cheap resource?

Once you have the CD you can copy it to your hard drive and use the HTML page somebody made so you don't need to wade through the Flash. If somebody wants a copy of the index I can e-mail it, its a few KB too big to attach as a .zip file here.
Flash drives are really cheap now, even a $4 one will hold several CD's worth of manuals so you can use them away from home.

I agree that stealing is bad. However sometimes the price difference between countries promotes illegal activity: To buy the same CD in Holland you'd have to pay nearly 10 times as much. Go figure - and you can't buy it legally in the US 'cos they won't do international posting.

Thanks for the tip - I do that quite a bit - but there are only so many times a year I feel comfortable asking friends again to go down to the post office.

I'm lucky to have American friends - but many people in other parts of the world may not be so lucky!

IMHO the value of a CD is precisely zero.

Now, give me a proper manual printed on decent paper that I can scribble notes in, read in the toilet, or prop on the air filter housing, and it is actually worth something.

The Haynes book for the W124 is actually quite good, and in my opinion vastly superior to the MB CD.

The "online" versions of the MB CD floating around for the W124 are all incorrect for the euro 124 for example, it doesn't list the 603.912 lump at all.

Totally agree!!! All my CD manuals, not limited to MB, have been printed to hard copy & bound. You get fed up with goo-ing up the key board with greasy fingers.
Had to put the key board in a plastic bag to keep it clean. I have had more mouses than Roys had mobile phones.
