So I started measuring MB differentials & found that MANY MB's used a 185MM ring & pinion.

I bought a 16V differential from a junk yard & removed the carrier.
To mount the ring gear you need flywheel bolts & a 5MM spacer & bingo I had a W123 with limited slip.

About 3 years ago Tom W. contacted me & I explained just how to do that job.

So if you can find a used 16V differential, you are 1/2 way there.
Dear mbdoc and guys that have succesfully build it.
I own a c123 that you can find on youtube searching : ernest carlsson.
I need lsd in this car.
I already have a nice shape replacement 3.92 diff from w123 and i can buy for 150Euro a 16v diff.
Please correct me if im wrong.
All i need apart from this 2 diffs is a 5mm spacer that goes between w123 ring gear and carrier from w201 16v.
Will i be able to connect and secure stock w123 driveshafts from inside the diff? How much do a rebuils clutchdisks cost . I dont assume you used old ones. The w201 i can buy has used up all 4 gearing satelites in the carrier. How much do they cost? OEM only? My email is erio at poczta dot onet dot pl . Please help and guadiance needed.

I had the spacer made locally. I bought the longer bolts for the ring gear at fastenall (It took three tries to get them right, IIRC). I bought the clutches from MB I believe, the cost of them was not too bad. I had my favorite machinist Homer Banes put it all together.

What is your intended use?

Thank you for your reply
My intented use is this:
Video + Onboard Carlsson Nowak Ernest Mercedes W123 280CE wrzesien 2013 Classicautocup - YouTube
go to 3:30 minute to see the car on all 4 proper wheels. 17 inch penta's,
the onboard is around tents minute.
As you see i need the LSD very badly
My main competition drives W201 16V, and I amd 3-8 seconds behind.
With the right tire (230 slick medium dunlop[but outside temp must be better than 13 degr. Celcius]) and LSD i will be able to brake them.
In a W123

I have now a cylinder head made with Schrick camshafts, and the exhaust is being prepared for it, 2x2 inch 2x50mm. Will get a exhaust this week, its too damn loud.

I race mainly in Poland, on Kielce racetrack, but this year i was on some trackdays, and next year I will definately race on Poznań Circut, and someday I will go to Nurburgring, and Monte Carlo with it

what do you think, will i get enough improvement with this combo diff ?

Thumbs down

one more thing.
The diff I am going to buy is from this car: WDB2010341A211931 and costs 150 Euro

The diff needs new gears. and clutch
Now
Please anybody find me a good price offer for satelites gears (in the carrier),
small 1073530014 cost in Poland 30 Euro each, and that is acceptable
but the bigger one 1243530515 costs 160 Euro for one, and I need 2 of them.

Please tell me who is the manufacturer of this differential, ZF ?
can I buy this gears elsware than Mercedes Poland cheaper ?
is the part number telling that i can search for a ASD W124 diff and hope the bigger carrier gears be the same ?

.
I know i am reawakening an old thread, but DeliverValve is correct, the gen1 w126 diff fits in a w123 (or w115), and the width of a LSD compared to an open is the same.

Besides swapping the flange/yoke so that it fits the flexdisc (v8s have larger flexdiscs than straight-engined benzes.

you might also have problem with some of the axles rubbing against the bolts on the side of the diff.
Allen-screws, and recessed a bit i have seen people using as a solution to this.
those screws

i have both 2.65LSD from a w116 in a w115 and 2.47LSD in two w123s
http://mbturbo.com/2-47lsd-with-722-6-1600rpm-100kmh/
No issue, althou 2.47 and 2.65 requires a bit of engine, especially if manual and fivespeed transmission

Question Final Drive Ratio Thoughts

Thanx for this update ! .

I was looking at a 2.65 pumpkin Friday last and wondering how badly it might slow up my '84 300CD.......

It has a 3.07 in it now that's getting noisy .
