Is a 1981 280CD a 300CD with a gas engine?

Dorman makes a electric window passenger window regulator for a 280CE but not one for a 300cd.

I thought it was the same car.

Let me know cuz i need one.

CE's are the same as CD's. Both are C123's.

Dorman the manufacturer is telling me they make a power window regulator for a 81 280CE that doesnt fit the 81 300cd

Sign up for EPC Startek (there's a link somewhere). It's MB's electronic parts catalog and you can cross-reference which parts fit other cars within the series.

If the window regulator fits the CE, it should fit the same year CD.

if a window regulator fits these cars it will not fit your CD...

I read that info to mean they make a regulator for the 4 door but not the 2 door.

likely the 280CE was a misprint.

there is a ton of info on the problems with the CD regulators. and solutions to fix them. on the google section of the search link up top. often it's the slides binding due to alignment problems, and lack of lubrication that causes them to bend.
there is a CD near me I will try to convince the owner to have me work on it to see what's up with them.

if your window still moves, but is not correct, likely it can be fixed before it gets broken badly. are you mechanical at all? the rear panels are quite difficult to remove.
