umm.... whiskey tango foxtrot.
My "rebuild" kit didn't have any o-rings
All it had were the brass rings, springs and plastic valves. With 300k miles should I suspect the o-rings? Cause it still doesn't run right.. just been too cold to fool with it. I am getting the small primary filter filling with fuel then emptying and running rough, then filling again... emptying, running rough.. over and over again. New primer pump too.

My kit came with all the O-rings.
When I had the pump apart the first time, there was no rust or pitting whatsoever. Thanks, my valve is oriented correctly. I didn't know it was possible to install the valve upside down.
Inlet valve was stuck again from just sitting overnight. I had the valves out today and they were clean. No residue, no gummy stuff.
I haven't pulled the pump body off since rebuilding it. Fortunately for what I've needed to do, I just pulled the various plugs and fittings. I would say to remove the entire pump is among the bigger PITA R&R operations on this engine. There's not much access for for the three little nuts that attach it to the IP.

Probably because you only had the valve replacement kit.

I bought one O-ring at a BMW Motor Cycle dealer. Took over 7 days to get it. You could maybe get one from a local Bosch Fuel Injection Shop.

I looked the O-ring up on the internet and found that BMW used one. An I knew were the BMW Motor Cycle Dealer was so that is were I decided to get it.

BMW motor cycle carburator
BMW motorcycle parts 5x1.5 O-ring, cold-start enrichener shaft, part# 13 11 1 257 819

Lift/FUEL SUPPLY PUMP TINY o-ring
The 5mmŲ x 1.50mmŲ 'O' ring is located in a groove in this bore and prevents engine oil in the IP from being sucked into the fuel re-circulation circuit. In most cases this O-ring has either hardened and broken up or completely disappeared.

I pulled the entire lift pump off yesterday because the suction valve was stuck again. It was stuck to the face of the port and not the body/nut/bolt that it sits in. Upon close inspection there was nothing that could explain why it gets stuck. No residue, no odd wear or ill fit. The only thing different is the valve itself. I never thought to compare it to the old ones during the rebuild. I still had one of the old ones to compare. The stem itself is slightly shorter on the new valve and it is a different color plastic. Nothing that would explain why it gets stuck.
I'll see if the old valve will make a difference.

Dammit! It was stuck again. I don't get it any more nor do I care any more. I've wasted too much time on such a stupid issue. I've had the patience of Job but this got to me. I'm parking the fakata pos.
Sorry for the rant but I've had it!
See you guys elsewhere (non Mercedes forums)

No, I only have another IP. I had two spare lift pumps that I got rid of along with a big bunch of other engine parts that I didn't really need. The lift pumps were probably junk any way like everything else was.
I was thinking more like pouring gasoline on that bush.

On the o-ring question...
Bosch lists now 2 440 210 002 (MB 010 997 86 48) as replacement to the original black(perbunan?). And yes,the replacement is Viton.

Glad to see you haven't defected over to some gasser forum. Take that pump and throw it as far as you can and go find one at a wrecking yard, it hardly seems worth messing with.

I'd like to take that damn thing and throw it somewhere but with my luck, when the grass starts growing again I bet I'll hit it with my riding mower and take out a few of its blades or worse.
I'm just going to let it sit for now and wait for the weather to warm up significantly before I mess with it again. The only thing I can figure any more is all the cold weather we've been having may be part of the issue.
