That's b.s. My bottle of Mobil 1 ATF says that it meets the particular 236.x specs that MB calls for our automatic transmissions.

Dont shoot the messenger i am just saying someone here posted that the new recipe for mobil 1 atf is not a propper form of dextron 3 anymore.
I personally have 2 cars with the new formula of mobil 1 in my cars right now, with no problems.

I wasn't attacking you. I was just pointing out that Mobil 1 ATF still meets the specs despite what others may say.

I do remember one problem I had with a 190d ,an auto 1988 2.5 car that Id bought with an existing problem. The car wouldnt go into 3rd & 4th until it was warmed up.Id drive the feeder roads for some 3 miles then make for the freeway. After 3 changes of fluid and filters within the 1st 3 months it finally cleared up .A long non service had put a varnish inside the trannie.

Black fluid is a bad sign.
The ATSG book gives one posible cause as the bellville washer of the K-1, clutch rubs against the planetary-gear carrier of the front planetary.
Trans rebuild or replacement maybe in your future !!
