welcome to the forum. sorry you are having issues with your mb. how certain are you it needs a head? what are it's symptoms, and what have you done to isolate the issue to the head?

Well, you already got the head off. and have found issues. So if the car is worth keeping, you need a new head. You might be able to get a good used one

There are a bunch of threads about changing/upgrading the #14 head. do a search.

Then of course there are a million "while your in there" items. which all depend on how the car drove before, and how much $$ you want to spend.

Good Luck

Brian

What are the main parts should replace while in there and should I replace the motor mounts?

well, first thing I'd do is find out why the head failed!
likely the coolant was not serviced, so be SURE and flush the radiator, and the block.
VERIFY the fan clutch is working, or just replace it on general principles! if the radiator has ANY hinky chinks, chunk it, and put in NEW. check out the aux fan in front. be certain it works or just upgrade it to the dual fan of the later models. you will need to upgrade the resistor as well.
also upgrade the temp sensors to lower temp ones to give the car a better head start on rising temps!
inspect the vacuum pump, or just put in the newest updated one. the original style is known to fail and dump bearings into the timing chain ruining the head and valves and block/pistons on extreme cases...
