oil cooler hose question (1973 220d w115)
Ive read some older posts here on the forum, i know i need new oil cooler hoses. I got a few coolers from the junkyard, and i know at least one of them is good.
the history with the "problematic oil cooler" in this car is: the previous owner lost the drain plug for the cooler, so instead of finding a new one, he cut the threaded ends off the lines and took some radiator hose with hose clamps and stuck the 2 oil hoses together. i know the car is on borrowed time with this done, and i am just moving it around my driveway until i get all my repairs done. i would like to do the most cost effective, but proper repair. so i was at the junkyard today, and got a single oil cooler hose from a 240d(same size threading) for free. i guess my question is, would it be worth going to the local shop here and have them fab me a hose, from the old one, and use the good metal fittings, since i now have 4 metal fittings (2 of them being from the junkyard that i just got today)? or should i keep searching for some good OEM hoses? i think if i have a shop make the hydrolic hose for me i should be fine, i would just like to pick some other minds out there and see what you think. Thanks in advance- marc

kmurphy, the place i had make mine charged me 43.00 for both hoses, using the junkyard fittings i had. however, i saw on ebay generic hoses for 29.99, but at least mine are the perfect length, and wont rub anywhere.
