Hello there collective wisdom,

I've done a bit of searching and can't seem to find a factory manual for my 87 300TD...where might one find such a beast? Electronic is ok, too. (i'm on a mac if that matters)

Thanks in advance!

be sure and put your car in the 1987 wagons post. yours brings us up to 34 I think.
I've also been looking for an 87 wagon FSM. I'll post if I find one, you do the same ok?

I suggest you trade that one in on a 1981-1985 wagon, switch to a PC ... then we can find a manual for you...

i bought paper manuals on ebay. there are two for the chassis and one for the engine. you have to get the correct 603 engine manual, there are several but only one is for the '87 model. there is a pretty good website put together by someone from here, but it's down at the moment:

http://www.ps2cho.net/downloads/MB%20CD/W124/Main.html

it's funny because there are lots of differences between the material on the link above and both the paper manual and the FSM on CD.

i also have a digital version of the FSM. on a mac you simply copy the CD to your drive and use a browser to look at it, then the individual service operations are individual pdf's.

Mercedes published the W124 FSM in various versions (gas and diesel), various applications (chassis, electrical, engine, climate control, etc.) and both print and CD-ROM. All are now out of print. Real and bootleg versions of the CD-ROM show up on the auction sites and the print manuals do too.

My copy of the CD-ROM manual (2 CDs) doesn't say anything about supporting Mac but I know that Macs have an emulation mode and in any case the CDs contain files of pdf images of the paper manual along with a program to access them. Even if the Mac cannot run the display program you can look at the pdfs with Adobe Reader. Given the cost of the paper manuals, I would look for a CD-ROM set "Model 124 Service Manual Library," version 2.0. It includes engine, chassis/body, maintenance, ETM, climate control, and a gasser owner's manual on 2 CDs.
