Removing Front Lock - 1983 240d
Ok, I searched the forums and couldn't find the answer to this question so here it goes...
My passenger lock wasn't working. So I removed the outer handle to see what the problem was, turns out, the plastic piece that the plunger from the handle goes into is broken... so apart comes the door. I followed the FSM, but now I'm stuck. there is nothing in the FSM on how to disconnect the lock from the vacuum system. and that one pull rod is keeping me from being able to remove the lock from the door. Any ideas on how to remove it?

The red arrow points to the clip that will snap off the rod and then slide of the end. In this pic you'll push the clip downward.
To remove the rod here it snaps out of the white clip.

Is this method preferable over disconnecting the rod attached to the vacuum element? If so, why?
