lots of comments about the aux pump but did you hear anything about 617.912 spring?

I'm also wondering if the 617 M pump lift pump uses the same spring.

Well, the valve adjust didn't do anything for the car. A little surprising since most of them were well out of spec. OTOH, the last time I adjusted them they were all very tight and the car ran worse after the adjustment. It actually took a week or two of driving for the "performance" to return.
I'd be willing to try a different lift pump spring. I'm sure it can't hurt. However, as many have mentioned, it would be wise to install a gauge prior to this.
Anyway, I highly recommend the FD change. I have been able to cruise at 75 mph and actually reduced the 0-60 time for the car. The other night I passed the guy I bought the car from (I didn't recognize him) and he called me right away and asked if I was running jet fuel in the car? This mod has literally made me rethink my plan to sell the 240D and buy a 300D turbo. Sure, the 300D turbo would be a nice thing but for the majority of my driving my car is now just fine. And, I keep the simplicity and maintenance history of my car.
Just avoid 50-60 mph and make sure you plan ahead for inclines.
Thanks for all the comments!

not sure about the 300d (aprox 125hp I heard), but i'm using every bit of the 71hp the 240d has!! I'm finding it takes more concentrated effort to drive the 240d. When momentum is a B1tch to loose you got to plan ahead and take action planning / anticipating how to drive along the way maintaining speed if you can. Cars with HP on tap have spoiled me. This is a enjoyable challenge to drive.
