603 cant fit

Came across this Benz 603 that will not fit in my wagon! http://greyfalcon.us/Mercedes%20T80.htm

Anybody have guess as to why they would design that 603 engine with different compression ratio on the left bank than the right. Scroll down and see alot of info about the C-111 diesel record car

All I can think (I'm no engineer) is that it might have had something to do with balancing the engine. Some kind of vibration harmonic developed and it was cured by slightly offsetting the power from one half to change the "rhythm" of the engine?

No idea but that's the only wild theory that comes to mind for debate.

For packaging maybe the turbo was only driven off one side?
