Dear Wife, please clean up kids food dropped in 124!!!

Retentiveness. Is it too much to ask to no let the kids eat crackers and drink juice in your low mileage like new w124? Or to vacuum it out when you do? Really?

Anyone else have this problem or a solution? Mind you this is the same woman that cant take a bath without scrubbing the bathtub for an hour and keeps the kitchen counters spotlessly clean. The rest of the house usually slides.

Does anyone have some statistical doomsday facts about the affect of crackers and juice mold and the neurological illnesses that can occur? Maybe with some live action microscope video? Any links to fruit rollups and the apocolypse?

Please help a brother out.

I pretty much worry about my car and try to ignor my wife's. If it looks particularly grungy on a weekend I will take it to be detailed.

I let someone drink something in my car once and it ended badly. Never again. (Lucky It was the center console so there were no stains)

My cars, and hers. In over 25 years this is the only way that it works for me.

I'm a clean freak in my spaces, she will eat while driving, kids are allowed to also. The first time I bought a new car for her it drove me nuts, and the second time, eventually I just keep her car in good condition and leave the crumbs to the occasional vacuuming.

It's a common "problem", but ultimately many of us give in to letting them have their car however they're comfortable.

I also have daughters who drive.

1st daughter keeps everything perfectly spotless, crashed the quattro twice but never scratched her car.

2nd daughter? Absolutely trashed the interior of her '94 E320, no amount of cleaning would keep it clean, just continued to leave everything in the car at all times (clothes, music, bags of stuff, school supplies, drink cups, ...). The trunk pretty much stayed full.

I don't understand the difference, but have decided that I don't have to. It's the reason that I gave the cars to the daughters and wife, and I just learn to use my own cars or keep my mouth shut.

I've learned from the mistakes of others that whatever it takes to keep a marriage together, is much less painful and less expensive than the alternative. They still make cars.

... you'd hate working on cars with me...
SOMETIMES I leave tools on the floor of the shop for MONTHS...
I always, well usually, put my tools away when I work outside... sometimes?
good diesel oil on my tools keeps rust off them right?
ya mean the box the tools come in is to put the tools back in?

When I bought my '03 Dodge, the dealer had on display a new high end minivan in the showroom. I just couldn't fathom filling it up with slobbering kids (or pets) and taking them to Mc Donalds or BK.

How bad could it be, ... I have a wife and a daughter who occasionally decide to borrow tools from the altar, ... and it's usually a coveted hard-to-find tool, used incorrectly, and left wherever it was "needed". I buy them their own tools, and they promptly lose the one tool that they will need next, so must borrow mine. GAAH!

So come on up and torture me. If you ever break down in the area, you're welcome to use the shop and tools, ... provided they make it back into the altar nice and clean.

Although I hate you anyway after you brought home that last gem, ...

here's a good one for ya...
I bought my mother's (the grandma in question in my earlier reply...) suburban...
picture room for 8 leather top of the line surburban... now toss 6 or more screaming kids in the mix... yeah. I pulled more food out of that vehicle than I care to admit.
but in addition to the moths and maggots, (yes, really maggots in the car... the carpet was ruined from them.)
I had difficulty with the rear a/c. the blower would whine and sometimes work and sometimes make a horrendous noise...
I finally pulled the rear covers to fix the issue...

wait for it...

guess what else likes food left in the car...

ya...

yup. you know what's coming...

what makes a woman scream at the top of her lungs and stand on the highest piece of furniture in the house....

yup.

big nest of mice.
I think that ought to be a good incentive to your wife to keep the food droppings to a minimum.
explain how much the little rodents can destroy a car... or crawl on your body, across your feet. get stuck in your clothes... imagine what the smell is like when they DIE in the car...

maggots are friendly in comparison...
