Couldn't you just throw a leaf blower on the intake

Akshully.....

big ship/static 2 stroke diesels use electrically powered blowers to scavenge and supercharge, it is an idea that is at least 50/60 years old IN PRACTICE to my knowledge.

but....

those engine were designed and built from the ground up to work that way.

and

you'll need an extra alternator, capable of say 10 bhp, to power the 7 bhp blower motor, anything less won't produce any boost and will probably actually strangle the motor... resulting in an overall drop in performance.

10 bhp = 7,460 watts

7,460 watts / 12 vdc = approx 620 amperes

so you also have to factor in around 800 kilos of extra equipment what with the blower generator, blower motor, cabling, and ducting.... again, none of this applies to static / ship engines...

then you also of course have to rebuild the engine, with lower compression pistons, unless you wanna pop holes in all your pistons pedal to the metal at 3,000 rpm...

I guess you could use a gasoline powered leaf blower... but um, like why?

Why why why????

Haven't you seen "Home Improvement"? - More power!!!!!

Just think you could hook up a leaf blower to a little generator and sit it on the back seat just like Top Gear did with their modified milk float electric car.

Genius. (Suck in them fumes)

Mice? Hmmm I'm not sure whether they can be motivated for long enough - now cockroaches there we have some real animals - they can survive almost anything - they'd probably out live the car.

But seriously though - how do you know if your leaf blower is going to be powerful enough?

Check out

For the answer.

At least when it doesn't work as advertised you can give the Mrs./GF one bad looking hair dryer.

I am positive that there is a way to use electricity to compress air into an intake tract. Does it make sense? No. Much like a mill next to a water fall, why not use an abundance of energy that gets wasted? (ie: the exhaust stream).

Whether we like it or not. 2 psi of intake pressure is still enough to 'boost' performance.

Much like an eye blink from a patient in a coma, anything above atmosphere is an accomplishment.
Since I live a sheltered life an Electric Turbo (actually Supercharger) was entirely new to me. In the 3 years on this forum no one has mentioned it; at least not in this part of the Forum.
I did some google searching and found there is more than several companies marketing them.
At Amazon there was a customer review of one and the customer was satisfied. But, that was not the Ebay one.
Apparently it is a gasser thing.

Good idea! The gasoline leaf blower would work because all of the spare current is spent in an HHO bubbler providing massive MPGs to compliment the extra couple hundred horsepower.
