How can they call this new.
Quote:
My understanding is this tag, "Original Mercedes-Benz Tauschaggregat", denotes an exchanged factory rebuilt motor. .

Here's a set of MTU engines in a sportfish. I worked for Viking Yachts as a mechanic. The latest models of these V16 are 2600HP each.

You're both wrong, it's a characterization of an arrow that Gottlieb Daimler (or maybe it was Karl Benz) drew on a map. He liked the shape and he used it for the company logo. At least this is what I read in the latest issue of The Star.

I heard the Land Sea Air one a long time ago. I think while it may not be the origin of the symbol that it is a good metaphor thats why its stuck so well.

Looks like a marine diesel engine, but judging from the amount of brown in the one pic I wonder if someone just went nuts with a spray can.
Bubbling paint in a boat engine isn't fun to fix I was also under the impression that the three pointed star meant land, sea, and air Karl's hope that his engines would be used to moved people in all three areas.

I was thinking a bus engine (pusher), being that the dipstick and services are on the end. A marine engine would have a different alternator, probably up higher, a heat exchanger, oil cooler, water/air intercooler, and raw-water pump all on the engine. It seems that most ag and truck engines are also serviced from the side.
Looks like it'd be really happy in one of our Prevost motorcoaches.
