I have been planning on at least one of my old vintage gmc's having one,
The COE one ton most likely will--for as little as i drive it a 135 hp will do.
The fenderless 36 rod done like a 34 ford will most likely get a 3.0 merc but not what yall are thinkin.

there was a quickie rat rod done with a 617 in old school rods a yr or so ago in two issues--running wvo(lovecrap)

I was wondering if it was a Jag. That's the only rear end I've seen with inboard discs. Are there others?

might be -ask t walgamuth.
What I Do know is the jags are almost self contained , -easiest install, and CHEAP and avalable these days, and sadly many get crushed for scrap weight. They got the salsbury diff ( a lefthanded Dana44) with dana44 guts. a 74 79 has 3.31 LS and the 79-88 has 2.88LS and any v12 has posi Ive been wondering about using the c4 vette diff since its an aluminum D44 ---in the jag assembly
since the vette irs is harder to install and has ugly outboard locating arms. And also the jag rear assembly was designed here in the states for jag-probably By dana (salsbury is owned by dana) and it uses plain ole chevy u joints thruout--but a ford type front yoke.

Jag is the only one I am aware of. That is not a jag total assembly but it might be the diff, brakes and half shafts etc.

On a jag the upper locating is done by the half shaft and it has two metal u joints in it. Also has two shocks per side with small diameter coil over springs. At least that is all I have ever seen on a street rod running a jag rear end.

This might have special upper arms so they can do that dramatic drop and keep the wheels vertical...only way to do that is with nearly equal length a arms.

Wonder how many minutes it will take that turbo to discolor and/or flake off all that nice fancy expensive chrome on it. Or, I wonder if it is just Dupli-color chrome in a can...in which case they should have painted the block either way

Well The stock lower a arms are gone and the cobwebb things are replacing them I guess, on the uppers you are looking at-they are not uppers

they just did their own modd of the shock mounting arrangement and used a bellcrank(z bar) style like heidt's opend weel front end--which is their knock off of the prowler frontend.
No reason to go to this trouble unless using shockwaves like this guy-Theres no room to do it wit shockwaves in the stock double coilover location because -too close to the spinning sideshafts, and of course not having a rear frame section with a usual cross brace mounting setup.

Those web things are just replacing the subframe mounts. The lower arms look quite stock. The axle shafts are the upper arms, the leading arms and lower arms work together to do most of the locating.
Something looks like it's missing, aside from the coilovers. It just doesn't look quite right and I can't place it.

That oil pan would be gone in 60 seconds out here. However, that's one damned nice piece of fabrication work. Kudos!

What is the attraction about scratch-building some sort of customized, wheeled vehicle? I see that frame all fabbed up like that and I just want to build something special for here at the farm which is completely stupid because I already have TWO ranch buggies that are perfect for the job.

You are correct! That is a push rod suspension setup like (in theory) I have on my FF. I was half asleep and missed that.

Right. Those Jag rear ends are very slick for transplanting to another car. Very rugged too, I believe. If they have Dana 44 diffs that will take quite a bit of torque too.

Looks like he cut out a junkyard engine, threw come chrome on it and dropped it onto a frame. The rear end's frame looks weak. I really don't see much good about that "car".

I think it's unfinished.

There positively has to be some additional triangulation left to go between the frame and those upper pushrod pivots.

Probably is a junkyard engine with parts on it...that's what I'd use to fit the motor mounts and stuff. I think the chrome looks stupid too...much better to polish the alloy or powder coat it all IMHO.
