What kind of mileage do you 124 diesel wagon owners get? I'm starting to ponder a 124 wagon for a family truckster, but it would be nice to get better than 25mpg, which seems to be hard to beat unless you have a VW or small compact car.

Build a 250TD . Those get what, 35? Probably an exaggeration.

Mine always did 23-24 city. Highway was mostly 27-28, but would occasionally hit 30. Depending on the relative price of diesel vs. premium, it may be less expensive to run a 210 chassis E320 wagon. I had one of those too. It got 2 MPG less city and the same highway as the 124 diesel wagon.

Gawd, my '85 TD is getting 17-18 in the city. I need to track that problem down.

I get 23 in town, but never better than 26, even on highway. I am not light footed but I also take care of my car so I think something is not quite right. I head claims all the time of 26-32 but I have not seen it.

The wagons, in general, get slightly less than the sedans.

My mileage is typically 26 city, about 30 highway (more for longer trips). Mileage can be a bit better when winterized fuel is not used (rather, winter numbers may be lower than the above).

I get 26-29 mpg. No mods, not ultra concerned about mileage when driving.

Good luck finding a really nice/clean W124 TD. You may have to 'make' one.
I found a needy, reasonably well cared for TD and have been 'debugging' it for nearly a year. Good car over all. Love it.
