Hard to start when warm
92 300SD has 178K. Starts right of way when is cold with no hesitation. then when is warm has serius problems to start, I always have to heat up the glow for 6 to 8 seconds in order to start even when engine is warm. Please advise.

Whats your compression like? shouldnt need to glow to long after a recent run. Is this a 350SD?

Nest time it's warm, pull the brown vacuum line off the shut off valve before trying to start it. If it starts easily, you'll know the problem lies in the fact that the vacuum is not being completely bled off the shut off valve when starting it warm.

When the engine compartment is warm you may have an air leak that is not present when the compartment is cold. Allowing the fuel to drainback a little.
I have had engines that were otherwise good. If they did not see a little glow plug activity even when good and warm they did not light off easily. These were volkswagon products. |

Also make sure all your battery and starter connections are tight. My 240 used to turn over really slowly when it was hot. I found a bad connection on the starter.
