Intermittent check oil light... 1987 300SDL
 

This is on my '87 SDL. The check oil light has been coming on/off the last 2 weeks. It's not on every trip but it typically happens on a straight away (not on the corners as some have reported). The light will stay on for maybe 1 minute and it will disappear.

I usually see it come on only once per trip (though I don't drive a lot). The oil level is just fine - I checked. I'm guessing that it's a bad sensor or wire shorting?!

the sensor in the pan fails. as long as the oil level is good, and the light goes out, I'd not worry about it.

I had the same problem with my '87 300d. Replaced the sensor & it cleared up. Not an expensive fix...

Replace it at your next oil change. I think its on the left side of the pan. Should be easy to fix

It's a pretty easy fix, I'm sure - but it IS $50.... :eek:

Super easy fix. My SDL had the same issue. I think my w124 cabrio is having the same issue too.
