Question??

A couple of questions:
1. How many miles should a 1995 300e diesel non turbo motor run before
major overhaul. I know that scheduled maintenance has a lot to do with
it and also how and where it has been driven. I have one that had 180k
when I purchased it and have driven it for about 18k. It doesn't smoke
but will use 1-2 quarts oil between changes (every 3000 miles). Some
oil leaks somewhere out from the bottom front of the engine but not
that much.
2. I notice that at 3000 rpm I am only going 67 mph. Is this normal or do I
have transmission problems. The car is slow in town and takes awhile
to get up to crusing speed. I take it that a diesel with only 135 hp is
this way. I gets great fuel mileage so I don't think the transmission is
messed up but I don't know. Another thing is the noise inside the
car.
Thanks L L L

In those 15 years what kind of oil was used and how often were the oil and filter changed ?
Was it ever overheated ?
These are generic questions which apply to all cars.. but the oil question is more important for diesels.....

If maintained well, it will go 500,000 miles and still run like a swiss watch.

the n/a 3 litre straight six was 115 bhp

2900/3000 rpm @ 70 mph is about right for a 4 speed auto with standard tyres etc.

2500/2600 is maximum economy.
