Tex and Lance.

Tex is from Texas originally. Lance is somewhat arbitrary.

The parts car is Lazarus :-)

Names for vehicles were needed in my family because we often had the same models of camry.

My wife's VW Passat is "Heidi" because she thought it was a pretty German name.

She started the naming and I've just kept out of it. So when I got my car she said it needed a not so pretty German name... so it's Elsa. And I'm fine with that, I actually like the name.

I've been known to refer to my 82 300D as "Heidi," because she's German and blonde (well, Light Ivory).

I sometimes refer to mine as the Teutonic torpedo, but most people don't seem to know what I'm talking about.

I tend to give vehicles misnomers for names.
The 1970 Chevy pickup is "Bullet".
The 240D is "The Blue Flame".
The 300D actually makes sense and is known as "The Great Pumpkin" because it's orange (called English Red I think).

1975 240D "Fraulein"--German for "mistress", because I spent more time and money on her than on my wife
1977 Jeep CJ5 "Janis"
1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer "Herc", short for Hercules
And I have just purchased "China" from TylerH860, and I am thinking that "Frau Blue Car" a play on "Frau Bluker" (cue the horses) would be appropriate........

I still have not named my car yet...whats a good name for a white sedan...that almost made it to the scrap yard??
It was all green when I got it, but cranked and ran upon first inspection before purchase
we had a 58 pontiac when I was a kid..my mom called her Betsy
I had a gold car in my teens and called it "goldie"

I think the german names are fitting

Q: "do you name your car?"

A: "I never have, until now"

Well that is until I pick up my 87 300 TDT. My fiancee decided to name it "Gehngis Khan" because it's like a barbarian horde . .

Then she decided that my 87 300DT, is Charlemangen. . .

two cars of the same generation, on dignified, standard of civilization. and the other. . .well. . . .

(caveat I am a history buff and know that Kahn was in fact very advanced and civilized, but I'm going for Hollywood with the names)

So I went from no names to two names in a day
