Should I delve into the "Critical transmission" thread?

not to edit much out of it, but more to find certain relative posts and organize them into a better, easier to read format and lock it to keep it smooth?

You're a braver man than I if you even think it's tackle-able.

I voted "change it" but it occurs to me, how much harder is it to go through it, and then create a *new* topic, using those old messages as the fodder for creation?

Some sort of a drag-and-drop copy thing that preserved the 50 page doc but also copied the relevant ones into a new format would be another way to approach it IF it's technically possible.

If it's too hard to do that then have fun reorganizing

I'm sure there's good info in the thread but I can't use it as it is.

Here's a link to the thread:-

It's CRITICAL... how you set your transmission's vacuum system on your diesel MBZ...

I think I've got the correct one!

John, I think if you have the time to give it a good sort out, I for one would very much appreciate it - it is a common problem / cause of complaint.

John, It would be a great thing for the forum to have it sorted!! No one would envy you for a task like that. Personally I think I would have to hate myself to take that task on!!!
If You think you are up to it. Good Luck !!!

It would be handy I'm sure, but not sure it's doable. Would you organize it by body, year, & engine?

Make a copy, then fix up the copy. Put a link to the original at the start of the post.

I'll do what I did to the tool rental forum.
copy it, sort out the junk, then organize the relevant info by model and style or whatever seems relevant while I'm in there... don't expect any changes overnight!

I had thought of pulling out the relevant info into a concise post but just do not have time. It is encouraging to see that I am not the only one who has thought of this.

Go for it. I have a trans manual that I downloaded from somewhere (perhaps from a link here). Let me know if you don't have it.

Last year, i started to a 722.3xx trans vacuum writeup 'for the common man'. I could send that in as a starting point - it has most of the points outlined in that thread for W123's and 4's.

PM me if that would be of any use.
