Valve Adjustment Guide for 300D NON Turbo

Can anyone point me in the direction of a how to for valve adjustment on my 300d non turbo. I've Googled some step by step directions but have seen too many variations on how to do it properly. I saw two write up on this one suggested number 1 cyl camshaft lobe pointing straight up, 90 degrees and the other suggested a 180 degree angle? Do you really need the special wrenches too? Help?

The cam followers for whatever piston you're working on should be on the base circle (no lift), instead of the lobe of the cam. When the two lobes for a particular cylinder are pointing +/- 45* away from vertical, both followers are on the base circle.

Hear it's a lot easier w/ the bent wrenches. At the very least, I'd hacksaw a 14mm down to 3-1/2 inches or so.

PM me for the best how-to on the internet. It's really quite easy.

It's very difficult to do without the wrenches. You can use mine if you ship them back. Sometimes you can get a set on ebay from somebody that sold off their old car. I got mine that way for under $50 shipped.

The needed or at least much preferred 14mm valve adjusting wrenches can be had for well under $50 from fleecebay if you are lucky....

the wrenches can be bent if you have access to a vice a torch and a pair of 2.00 wrenches... a grinder is not a bad thing to have too...

I'm thinking about bending up a few sets and selling them to members... WAAAAY less than $50...

Get a good set of bent wrenches - there should also be a thrid wrench to stop the spring retainer from turning too - this can be useful.
