84 190D mono wiper?

I have the old style mono wiper on my car,(the one that just goes side to side) I want to put the mono wiper that goes side to side and up and down. Can that be done?

I spent some time looking into this and wanted to the same. If you do an advanced search under my name, you'll see some other responses on the issue.

The windshields are different, I was having mine replaced around the time that I wanted to swap. I looked at other cars to see the difference.

All the trim in that area needs to be changed over along with the windshield. -That is all I could gather. I even swapped a later style dash into my car... so there was no issues there.

oh... did you also know there is supposed to be a little 4" wiper down at the bottom of your wiper arm? You'll see a little dowel pointing towards the windshield... thats the mount. (I had no clue)

Why do you have to change the windshield?

Honestly, I do not know if you need to change the windshield for installation of the oscillating wiper.. but, the windshield was changed when the new wiper was introduced.

It has a large radius cut out of the bottom in the center to accommodate. Seems like a lot of extra trouble for MB to put a big cut on all their windows if it did not need it.... especially on their 'cheap' model.

I bet the updated type has less streaks, cuz even on my new window with a new blade it is hardly an acceptable view.
