If I had that kind of money to spend on a new car I would definately give the BMW a look.

I drove a jetta diesel wagon the other day.
I don't have anything against newer BMWs, other than the "ricey" styling. However, I really don't see a good case for buying any new diesel car. The cost of diesel fuel would probably offset any increased mileage and they are no simpler than a modern gasser.

Plus a middle-mileage 123 or 124 purchased now will outlast a 2012 330d.

Maybe not a 2012 Land Rover Defender. But pretty much anything else, yeah.

Smooth move, BMW. I'm sure Joe the Plumber can't sell his Chevy fast enough.
Did you see the Chrysler ad? Honestly moving. Makes me kind of proud to be an American... Sadly the car in the ad is a re-badged Sebring quite possibly Chrysler's most boring car. But the rest of the ad was amazing.

I'd buy a Chrysler before a BMW after seeing these ads.

Perhaps they didn't use a 524td in their commercial because they couldn't find one. I did, however, see a Volvo smoke like that once.

Advertising executives find it nice to know that you can still be moved to buy thier product with audio visuals.
If the 911 and the recession never happened eminem would have never done that commercial and he would still be calling dtown stinktown.(or whatever caustic slang his drugged out no book reading ass wants to call it)

Newer diesel powered engines use about a third less fuel than thier gasoline using counterpart model. However there are more costly to produce. This planet runs on greed.

READ the book :TWO BILLION CARS: there is an interesting section on mercedes and thier inability to bring electric cars to the mainstream almost two decades ago...... you can find it for FREE if you VISIT YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY....or ebay...(books can be had there for just a few dollars,if they are more than a year old and are non-fiction,this book fits both categories.)

your congressmen dont want you to know certain information.A bill will be passed very soon limiting your internet access....guess which buisness loving, pro gun ,not even a tenth of a percent tax increase and freedom loving party will support it

it took the prices of food to increase twenty percent in a month to incite a riot and a regime change in another country,
but they dont have access to our wonderous television and alchohol and mind numbing prescribed drugs.

I thought the Chrysler ad was by far the best, most convincing and moving ad in the entire event. Most of the other ads were obscure and way overproduced. The purpose of an advertisement is to communicate a reason to buy the product. There was an unbelievable amount of money wasted yesterday, IMHO.

I lso ahad the same reaction to the BMW ad. People buy German cars because, well, they're German cars.

Thanks folks, I didn't realize there was a diesel BMW and have to wonder as rscurtis does, are there any left?
Seems they came late to the party, yet "last out, best dressed" also seems to be on target, as it was the most powerful diesel engine in 1985, not a difficult thing to accomplish, as the 617 was designed in the, what, late 70's?

i thought the guy driving the mercedes was cute.

i'd rather be in his passenger seat than the guy who just spent oodles of money on a bmw; who is now in my mind a bragger as well as being a bully driver.

The next Mercedes ad .
A gent finds himself and his old BMW stranded on the roadside waiting for a tow truck, towed to a local shop he talks to the mechanic. After taking a look at the car the MECHANIC explains to the owner "The parts are ordered and will be in next week".Owner calls a taxi for the travel back home. The taxi driver shows up in a 123 ,as the mechanic hands the bill to the owner he looks desturbed then pans back at the taxi cab waiting with a smiling driver ,a gorgous german female preferred here.Maybe a gleem of light off of her teeth then one off the cars bumper for a funny.Ha Ha.

^ Anyone have a LINK to the ad?

I basically missed the whole Superbowl. Working out and Sunday dinner took precedence.
