1979 240d - New Starter = New problems (help)
Hi all,
I bought a 1979 240d a few months ago. The starter was going so I bought a reman Bosch unit and installed it last weekend. It started up and was working fine. The starter was working great and the car was running fine. Until yesterday! After I put in the new starter, something drained the battery completely dead. At first I thought the alternator went so I bought a new battery just to drive it home. Put a brand new battery in and: NO START. The light's are coming on and the glow plugs kick in, but absolutely nothing from my new piece of crap starter. Is there a chance the new starter died and then drained the battery? I double-checked all the wires and I'll do a voltage check tomorrow to see if I can pin-point what's killing my battery. Has anyone ever had something like this happen? Any advice???? Thanks, all!! |
