Beautiful cars, all!
I have an 83 300D sedan, dark blue, iwith 245000 miles, never rebuilt, original trans., runs super great. Love it! Just bought 4 new Michelins today & expect to wear them bald before anything major breaks. What is this monovalve thing that Roadracer refers to? My EC works poorly & I am looking for improvements. By the way, the stock alloy wheels look better than anything aftermarket. Too bad about the black crap that the brakes deposit on them, though. |

Here's an old picture of it. It just came out of a body shop then rot-less... That I guess explains the shiny wheel and tires. I agree that the wheels look good. They are just a pain to clean.
I would love to have a set of mint BBS RS though... in 8x16 or something like that. My dad's 280E had those and I loved the way the wheels looked even though I hated the car back then. Now the car has a long scratch on the driver's side thanks to some drunk fool... I don't know why I love these old cars so much. Just Mercedes though. I don't even like the newer ones soo much. (I'd rather have a BMW or something) |

You think the "bundt cake" rims are hard to keep clean, those BBS wheels don't look to be any easier to keep clean.

Yeah, I know they are :p However I do love the classic BBS looks. The 8-hole wheels or the AMG Monoblocks would be very easy to clean. However, I do not really know how good they look on a W123.

Yes I do. A 1980 450 SLC 19700 miles and a 1989 260 E with unknown mileage (broken odo) stopped at 87k about 2 years ago.

Resurecting this thread
Nice thread, can't let it grow mold.
I drive a 1985 300SD, every day. Notice that this is a vintage 2002 thread. |

Wow! I remember this thread.
The 300D now has 272000 miles on it. The only thing replaced since the last post 2 years ago was a ball joint. Just amazing! Even my girlfriends' Accord cannot claim that kind of reliability record. |

Never in my life.
Newer is always better. People are fools to buy used. A car is just something to dispose of in a few years and move on. Might as well take advantage of the special leasing rates that even MB has been instigating. |

Yes!
1980 300 TD I got a year ago - Repaired the odometer 3 months ago; now it reads 230,000. Last month my friend gave me a twin with slipping transmission (3 year-old rebuilt). I haven't done anything with it yet. Odometer is at 391,000.

1979 300SD W116...117,000 miles..........use it a lot in the summer, but it sits out the winter. Gets started and run for 30 minutes every week. But kept off the salt covered street.
