What a glorious time....
I'm sure many members have seen these. For those that may have not, take a short trip back in time. The first "link" is only 50 seconds long and goes a long way in explaining/demonstrating the excellent suspension and handling we all enjoy.
The second clip is a review by "Motorweek". I thought it interesting the "price" they quoted for a new one and also their fuel economy numbers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ju-3h_x3g9k https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzXPCl6jio8 Using an "inflation calculator" and plugging in the price of the 240D gives a current day value of over $60K ! Pretty crazy. https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/ Ahhh, the good old days. |

Left handed compliments....
Man, you ain't kiddin! I kinda get the impression none of them knew too much about the car. I liked how they said Mercedes made the seats to last for 100K miles....lol. Can anyone say 200K, 300K? How 'bout the noodle-armed "journalist" complaining the seats are too hard and hurt his bum-bum.....hahahaha They weren't even aware of the "service position" of the hood and said it didn't open far enough....jeez!
Sure is nice just seeing a brand new 240D, though. Liked the color combination, too. Keep in mind minimum wage was around $3/hr in those days. Is it any wonder a new Benz is still out of my reach |
