ride quality?

So when you put in the lowering springs how did the ride quality go downhill? Also, what brand did you use? I'm curious because i want to put in a set, after the manual transmission swap my TD is riding high.

These seem to be the best of the best in terms of new springs, the company is local for me and I'm thinking of checking it out this spring -

I have Bilstein Comforts all the way around on my 240D and want to throw them in the garbage. If you putt around like a grandpa I guess they are fine. (I know it's only 67 hp, but....) In the interest of full disclosure, I have fully adjustable Koni Sports on my Porsche 944 Turbo S and keep them set on max stiffness so maybe I'm a bit biased...

IF YOU'RE NOT ORDERING YOUR SHOCKS FROM PHIL YOU FAIL!

I ordered Bilstien HD's all around for my SD from Phil and they're brilliant. Perfect levels of comfort from an interstate cruise and great stiffness for the many back roads of Tennessee. 99 Percent of the time I'm in the SD I'm cruising along on a wormy back road ant 50 or so and I couldn't be happier with the shocks. I also have new upper control arms (febi from Phil) and a good set of Bridgestone Weatherforce tires which helps a little. If you order your parts from Phil he will make sure you have everything you need to complete the job.

That's pricey. You can get a set of h+r for that. All you need is shorter spring shim. If anything lop a coil off, the td springs are already stiffer.

I had the same problem with the 300D nose riding high after my 4-spd swap. I swapped in a set of 240D front springs, dropped it down and looks good. It is a little soft on a windy road, seems to drop down more than before, but not bad. but Iam ok with it.

I do have a TD front sway bar to install to stiffen it up. Put Bilsteins on a few yrs ago, but don`t remember which ones.

You having a TD, the sway bar is 2mm thicker than the sedans.

I just redid my shocks.

The new shocks eliminated 80% of my body roll so I am happy with that.

The car seems to turn quicker now, because when making a sharp turn, the one side of the car does not dip and then rebound and then seem to turn.

now it is just turn and go.

So i think the hds on the fronts are wonderful.

for the rear, i have lost the cadillac wallow ride.

So why not just change the fronts, then see how you like it. no rule against changing two instead of four shocks.

if you buy hds for the fronts and then go comforts for the rear, i might consider trading my new hd rears for your new comforts rears if you dont like the comforts. maybe.

Can you buy H&R springs off their website? Or was it only in the former group buy?

Ah interesting, i didn't know wagons had larger sway bars. Well a set of 240 springs are much cheaper than the other options... I want to do a front end rebuild at the same time of the new springs, both these options could help me keep the cost down

I have HDs on both my 123s; the are nice on decent roads and a little harsh on rough roads. I would not mix types.

Go down to post# 20 and you can see the difference between the 2 bars.
SWAYBAR LINK

If you go this route, be sure to get the rubber bushings for this bar. a dealer item only.

The are available from the euro catalog as legend has it. No sure where u got 240 springs from? Either way if you need to drop the front a few spring pads is all you need.

Great pics of the heavy duty sway bar, hope you didn't crack a molar!

So putting in new spring pads could drop it a little? Hmm well that might be the best route.

I beleive each nub is 1 or 2 cm difference. So if you have 4 up there, 1 would be a dramatic change.
