Turns out my leaky fuel hose was worse than I thought! Finally got around to replacing it Sunday morning after noticing a strong smell of diesel in the air and a puddle under the car. Starts up smoother than ever, and so far hasn't tried to shut off. The hose must have failed shortly after I ran out of fuel, which would explain why starting it and keeping it running has gotten gradually more difficult since I revived it.
