W124 Wagon dome light flashing

I find that if I glow the car much longer after the glow plug light goes out, my dome light begins to flash. I've heard that this happens to others as well. Some reporting that it occurs while glowing with the door open.

I thought it might be a clever warning that I've left the key on but haven't started the car, but I don't remember reading anything about it in the owners manual.

Anyone else experience this? Any clever theories as to why such a thing is happening? Thanks,

Does it flash or more like dim and brighten. I noticed this on my w124 wagon last night and it was the seat belt warning light flashing that caused the condition. The seat belt warning light is integrated into the dome light fixture and when the seat belt light flashes, the dome light dims and brightens. At least this is the case with mine.

My 300DT does the same thing, but the 300TE doesn't. I suspect the lamp or the seatbelt warning lamp is bad, or the ground is dirty. The dome light is dimmer on the 300DT, too.

I put a new dome lamp in the 300TE last year, as it was burned out when I got it.

I was reading in the forum earlier and ran across something about the dome light circuit first running through the alert buzzer. From what you have described it seems that this could be related to your problem? Id check this to see if it is in any way related to your flashing dome lamp.
