1st gear flaring (slipping) ONLY from a stop?

83 300sd with 150k on it, 100% stock.

The car has just started to flare in 1st gear from a stop, and doesnt do it any other time.

Anyone have any ideas? Filter and fluid are new.

sounds like you could have b2 piston issues. it may be early enough that no damage has happened.

Changed the b2 as soon as it started to happen.

If you haven't already check the fluid level. Low fluid can cause funny issues, as can too full.

Flaring is usually the sign of the trans or some of it's parts getting worn out. A lot of them express their symptoms more when cold than hot. It can also be cause by too much vac. Try disconnecting the vac line that goes down to the trans, make sure to plug the open end that goes to the pump. Then go for a drive, and see if the shifting changed. If it did you may just need to adjust the trans modulator a little.

Will do.

Fluid is right where its supposed to be. I'm going to do another fluid change, and fill it will Amsoil next weekend.

Weird thing is, it doesnt slip when cold. It only slips when up to running temp.

If I floor it cold its fine, hot it slips, so I have to be easy on the fuel when accelerating from a stop.

Concerning the Pin that goes between the B2 Piston and the Brake Band; there is different lengths of them. I assume that is to compensate fore wear.
I recently installed a new B2 Piston myself but fixing the Drive Shaft is holdng up the test drive.
However, there is a measurement to determing if you need a different sized Pin or not.
I did not do this measurment because from the pic it looked like the Valve Body had to be removed to measure.
The Measurement is done with a Vernier Caliper.
