diesel #2 was $ 4.09 this morning

diesel and gas prices are rising again.have to get my bike out.its ironic as i just stopped running wvo in my sdl(im glad i did, just felt it was slowly running my engine down).these prices make biodiesel look doable.

Damn, finally over $4 a gallon . I have seen it in San Jose for $3.99.9 might as well say $4.

It will be soon over $4 here in Santa Cruz soon enough. the one guy selling B-100 has been over the $4 mark for a while.

It seems to creep up 2 - 5 daily.

And to think Omama says us retired guys don`t need the cost of living adjustment in our Social Security because the increase of the cost of things doesn`t justify it or some such political crap.

No increase last yr this yr and next one too.

we need to take the keys away from that idiot, and ground Air-Force one and the rest of his back up hodg podg assortment of planes and security. and also the special privledge his lovely wife flyies around in to all her vacation spots around the world.

get the fuel wasted by the Government into the supply chain, and it might bring down the fuel cost for the rest of us.
yeah, right. wishful thinking .

Its been hovering around $4 here for a while too. I've seen it above and below, changes by day. Amazing that a fuel that requires less refinement can cost more....

The only way to make the price come down is not to buy it. And covince everyone else not to buy it....

Fat chance of that happening. Time to start carpooling again.

Its only gonna go further up what with the unrest in the middle east.

Funny how you blame Obama for this, don't you live in a state that's had its head up its a$$ fiscally for 30+ years?

Id hate to be him trying to run around jamming rags in the holes of a national fiscal policy that is bankrupt in all but name, and trying to fix it without pissing off everyone in the country. Money has to come from somewhere to pay our interest on the debt, might as well be you retired guys.

I filled EVERYTHING in the last two days, the 86 Golf (7 gallons) the 300SD (20 gallons) and the truck (10 gallons) because I was suspicious that after last weekends events this was what would come. Fortunately I was paying $3.46 for what I bought.

Everything I have now is full, five vehicles and all full.

I wish now that I had a 50 gallon reserve tank somewhere to fill also.

Brace yourself for higher fuel costs in the short term

There is enough blame to go round when fuel costs go up. When we invaded Iraq which supposedly to secure more oil supply in the guise of democracy, fuel costs went up. Now the democracy movement ( unrest ) happened in Middle East and the fuel costs went up. The only answer is for us to cut consumption. We are the ones to blame. We use too much oil for our life style. You will see $5+ for #2 diesel in no time.

I used to monitor and compare the price of a barrel of crude oil to the cost of a litre of fuel and it was pretty consistent for 20 odd years. When a barrel of oil was $50 gasoline was 49.9cents/litre. When oil shot up to $150 a barrel gasoline went up to $1.50 a litre. In 2008 the oil price dropped to $31 yet gasoline only dropped to $0.96/l.
So while oil prices may be market driven this was proof fuel prices are not.
The problem is fuel is like water; you cannot actually survive without it. You need to work, items need to get to the retailers. To actually boycott fuel you would need to sit in your house and do absolutely nothing including eat. The ramifications would be far more serious than simply dropping the cost of fuel... if the rules of 'supply and demand' actually apply to fuel.

I'm a selfish cheap bastard who drives 75 miles every week day in DC traffic. When fuel prices are high, traffic is manageable. When fuel prices are outrageous, traffic is downright easy. Happens once in a while and I'm grateful. I don't like paying $4-5 per gallon for anything, but I do like getting to work and home 20 minutes earlier than normal. Driving a MB diesel used to get you Economy AND Reliability AND Cheap fuel. Two out of three still ain't bad.

Yup, higher prices result in less traffic, less total fuel use, and less oil imports. $4/gallon is a good start.

I remember once in 2008 the pump shutting off on my BMW X5 after it hit $100. Gas was in the 4.19 region for premium I believe. Never got better than 15MPG

I wonder if this will top the speculation insanity of 2008.
