Dropping Support Bearing Bracket
Just wanted to get your guys' thoughts on droppin the support bearing bracket that connects hold the one end of the guide rod to the wheel carrier on the front of the 82 300SD..
Both brass tab things broke off the nuts on the bolts two large bolts that hold it to the car... I can probably get the rear most by jamming a wrench in there and holding the nut..but I dont have that much room on the outside of the front one... Anyone have any thoughts? tips? pointers? |
I have never seen one before so for me pictures would help.

I rebuilt mine a while back, and posted info on it... maybe a search on guide rod and my name...
lemme check. I did remove the entire thing to replace my mounts. |
nope...
can't find it. post a pic, and I'll remember what I did... |
|
oh yeah.
I used an open end wrench and held the nuts still, and removed the mount bolts, dropped the assembly, then took the 4 bolts out of the bushing cover, and loosened the clamp, then unscrewed the old mount, installed the new mount, and put on the new cover. then bolted it back into position. |
and did a LOT of cleaning out of the bushing hole... lots of rust in there. REALLY hard to get the rubber in there. I think I used longer bolts to start compressing the kit, then swapped in the correct bolts after it was partially in.
