Question ? BillyBob?

Anyone know how to get in touch with him? I am going to be doing a timing chain replacement before too long and he is the only one listed in the tool rental program with the crimper tool. The problem is there is no contact info in his profile! TIA Don

I got one. But unfortunately the double row adapter is lost and it is currenly set up for a single. I need to order one.

If Brian doesn't have it or you can't get in touch with BillyBob, I'll order the adapter and you can rent mine.

While I do think the crimper tool , with its reversible anvil for first putting it together and then mushrooming the head of the pin , is GREAT.... that can also be done with things like vise grips for the first action and a ball peen hammer with larger hammer on the backside...
there is a LOT of discussion on this in the archives... use Larry Bible as the poster to search. What most people do not understand is that once you have the pin in place... it is a tight fit and thus ANY mushrooming of the head , since a double roller chain has no side pressure to speak of, works fine... hard hits are not necessary... many small taps around the edge of the head works just fine.

I agree. I have never used the crimper tool, just a ball peen with a body dolly behind it. Learned to do it that way from my dad who was a MB/VW mechanic back in the 60's.

May be Billybob uses the same name on another forum; like Benzworld and could be contacted there.

I think using the Timing Chain Crimping Tool is way more likely to produce a consistent good result in the hands of someone who has never done that sort of work before then peening with a Hammer.

Thats correct i dont frequent the Open Discussion forum often. BillyBob got an attitude with me when i contacted him requarding renting/loaning a tool so im not too concerned from a 'friendly' point mainly more of a "oh look over there what happened"
