Here's the OE switch you need. Mount it on your dash and operate it mechanically, not electrically.

now that's much better then sucking on a tube
going to try the electrical route...possibly use the original mechanical system as plan B thanks for the education.

The ignition vacuum switch has failed on my 92 300D. I removed the ignition switch assembly, then removed the two screws holding the vacuum switch and it came apart in my hand. Anyone know exactly how they go together? I'll be ordering a new one, but just curious. When new, is it a sealed unit or is it held in place by the screws that hold it to the ignition switch?
