Changed a few simple things on my car tonight (85 300D)

Well did my first DIY work other than my power steering fluid and oil and filter change. Very simple stuff but a whole new thing for me haha

I don't have a jack or stands so I was worried that I would need to get them to change the exhaust hangers and the differential gear oil (I put in Mobil 1 75w90, 1 liter), but I fit right under, was very easy and had enough room to do everything. The diff gear took 2 bottles though because I spilled a bunch, but it was really easy to tell when to stop adding, the overflow is very obvious.

The exhaust hangers I was worried about because I have read they were a pain to do, but it was very easy. I just slipped the donut over the top hook, slid a screwdriver in the donut and pulled like a slingshot while pressing the exhaust up with my knee or pelvis. Slid the donut on and pulled the screwdriver out.

Also replaced all of my injector return lines, that 4th injector is a pain... I also broke one of the old hoses pulling it off, and left a 3mm piece on the nipple. I had a dental pick though and carefully got it right off.

In other news, my car hit 168,500 miles tonight! Getting her broken in!

Thanks everyone for putting up with my constant simple questions, I don't have any experience working on cars at all so bear with me

Congrats... this is how it starts, a few things here and few things there, next thing you know you've touched more bolts on the dang thing then any one man in Stuttgart LOL

One of the gun guys I knew told me "you never truly own something until you can field strip it blind folded" I don't think he was talking about a car... but it applies!

Transmissions and diffs can be filled through a clear plastic hose run up to the top somewhere. Check what size fits the hole & buy proper length at the hardware store. Look up the capacity & pour fluid in. Jam a funnel in the end to make it easy to hit the hose. Always remove the fill plug before the drain plug.
