Plastic fan.

If you are going to use the plastic fan for the OM606, CHECK THE CLEARANCE CLOSELY! As stated above, the blades may need to be trimmed! It took me 2 radiators and a new lower radiator support and brackets to figure that out. Man, what a nightmare! Ran out of money for new radiators, so I had to use the one out of the parts car. It was kind enough to donate its (metal) fan assy., as well.

As far as trimming the blades, I would think one would have to make sure the fan was properly balanced afterward, or the vibrations would certainly shorten the lifespan of one's water pump.

When I get around to reviving the parts car, I plan to use an electric fan....

Jay.

Are you sure your radiator support's not bent or something? I haven't had to do this.

Good Morning, and welcome to the Forum.

There is always some humor here to go along with the seriousness of business of keep all this German iron rolling along.
Don`t take it personal. Jimmy is a great guy and has had a whole herd of these W123`s. and maybe one W124. he can give you a hand and be quite helpfull. though he is has sort of gone to the dark side since he had to hand over his "You know what`s" to his Wife .

skruggs-- it may help a bit if you put your location in your profile so it shows up on the upper right of your posts. There's a few very good dismantlers here in SoCal, and they do ship, but it's cheaper when you're face to face with them.
