Dashboard climate control sensors

Hello everyone,
My dashboard is horribly cracked, so I got a nice replacement from a Euro 280E. I would like to know what are my options on the climate control (Air-sucking) sensor (What is it called?) in the middle of my current dashboard. Is there a way to relocate or repipe it anywhere else? I really do not want to drill on the replacement.

Thanks in advance!

Answer

Yes, it can be re-located.
I moved one to the side of the center console ten years ago and it still works fine.

I've got the same idea. I was think of mounting it in the side of the glove box. I think the door fits loose enough to allow enough airflow. Top of the dash in Texas makes for a very hot location on the sunny days.

The aspirator is on the passenger side of the dash, if you follow the cabin temp sensor a hose will lead you there.

You could just put a smaller hose that opens up to the cabin under the passenger side dash, in the area of the foot well. Maybe the plastic cover from those with '85 models since the footwell panel has holes on the '85 I think.

Sorry, tried that and it does not work well.

The reaction delay was huge/ridicules, 7-15 minutes depending on thermal load.

It needs direct central cabin air for the sensor.

Thanks, so where on the side of the console did you relocate it to? Passenger footwell area?
