Project Thread for 1983 300D in Bay Area
Hey guys,
I just graduated from college and am starting to work on my '83 300D that I bought a few years ago. So far I've replaced the fuel filter (fixed my fuel starvation), replaced the thermostat (fixed my running temperature), and drilled holes in my trunk (fixed water pooling in my trunk). The leakage problem looks like a common one, going off the forum, but I'm working on that. Apparently a lot of it has to do with having 30 year old door seals that are cracked and such. Anyways, my big question is regarding the electrical system. My fuse #14 keeps blowing out every time I put a new one in. For some reason MB decided to put everything important on one fuse, including Tach, backup lights, horn, climate control, etc. Sometimes it'll go a couple trips before blowing, but without fail, that little ceramic 8A switch blows every time. I'm not great at electrical, so if anyone has any suggestions on starting points for finding a short, please let me know. Thanks! |

I'd pull your dash and look over your push button unit for burned contacts.
also, I'd disconnect the aux pump and see if the fuse stays good.
