I'd take it if it wasn't for the postage - and then customs trying to take a slice out of my backside with import taxes. (Not that I'm bitter and twisted about it!)

No problem! Make your own. I post these pics to give people ideas of what cheap parts can be used to make tools.

Here's another one of sorts - small screws on the rear sedan light clusters and loads of other bits in the boot / trunk => 8mm - that's fine, but why use a 7mm head for the end of the external trim section (that curves round the rear corners of the car) when the thread diameter is the same?

Volvos.

I was into Swedish cars before. I think Mercedes, and the W123's in particular, are much easier to work on. If you look at my sockets, very few show signs of significant wear. The 7,8,10,13,15,17,19,21 (close enough to 20.8 every time),22 and 27 - especially 13-19mm - are the only ones that are frequently off the rack. Those are all scuffed pretty good!

Sure, there are oddballs, but as one of my least favorite ex-bosses used to tell me, "You know, Jay, you're gonna' have that anywhere you go...." After hearing that one-too-many times, I quit complaining. Not too long after that I just plain quit. Thus ended my career as a refinish tech.

Jay

When I started this thread I had visions of making a nice list of all of the "what the %^%^ size is that?" bits on my car and putting the answer next to it so that other people had a reference point as well.

If anyone can think of any other W123 daft sizes that would be great - and then I'll get around to doing that list.

I dont think the lock nut up under the boot for the shifter knob has been mentioned. Its 15mm, for the manuals, dont know about automatics.
