Has anyone refreshed their suspension?
Ive done this on my RX7, replacing old soggy bushings with new polyurethane ones, it made a world of difference.
im wondering if theres anything like this for a W124, mine feels soggy and unplanted, in long turns and at high speed in straight line(especially when there's any crosswind). Ive seen some bushing kits and single bushings on sale, what would you recommend replacing first? Just looking for some confidence in the turns, and to make the steering wheel more connected to the car.

There are several "approved by common consent" DIY articles - click on Resources at the top right hand side of this page.
So far there is this one for a W124:- http://www.peachparts.com/Wikka/W124FrontStruts Otherwise I'm sure one of the W124 owners here will be able to point you in the direction of some good threads...

When I did my suspension on my 300e, it made a world of difference. List of stuff replaced was ball joints, tie rods, shocks/springs, sway bar bushings, basically the whole front end.
I am waaay over due to replace all the rear end bushings. Thats the project for this summer.

The original bushings when new made for a tight suspension and taught handling. Urethene bushings will likely just transmit more high-frequency bumps and vibrations with little improvement in handling. Proper high-quality tires will also help.

The combo of new stock springs, new shocks, and new suspension rubber can make a car feel like almost new... then new springs in the seats... and it is a different car....
I have done it on other cars but not my MB yet... Agree with Babymog as to preference for the stock rubber stuff...

I once worked at a spring and brake shop... part of the time as mechanic and then as " service writer" ... actually mostly the guy that drove the vehicles into the proper stalls of the experienced mechanics... but getting to feel them before and after was an education in itself... and going around back... not on purpose... were pot holes... so it really showed off what was wrong...
I have replaced several springs in my cars over the years.....and the actual seat of the pants feeling is very noticeable and NICE... about the same as putting new tires on when the old ones are many years old.... except the springs newness lasts a lot longer...

Overhaul.
I've replaced the shocks and all but one of the doggie-bones on both sides in the rear, including the LCA's, on my '87 sedan. Both ball joints, inner and outer swaybar bushes, struts and mounts, bottom-out bumpers and boots up front. When I got the car, as some of you may remember, it was almost undriveable because of the 124 (maybe 210, r129, 201??) boogie. VERY different, now. Upgraded to some C-class 16" wheels, also. Man, I want a coupe!
Jay.
