I like cloth because it feels cool in summer, and warm in winter. You don't stick to it like leather. It's comfortable, like a well worn pair of jeans. Note, I am talking about CLOTH not velour. Velour is awful.

I like the E200 CDI engine as it's simpler than E300, less moving parts, it's also physically smaller which leaves more working room in the engine bay. I also like the increased MPG over the E300. I'm not racing it, I don't need huge power. I just want efficiency and longevity.

Here's the specs on the three new 4-cylinder CDI engines, all more powerful than the W210 E300: http://www.automobilemag.com/green/reviews/0903_2010_mercedes_benz_e220_cdi_diesel/index.html

The diesels, however, are even more impressive. The three four-cylinder units are all the same size: 2.1 liters, and all three are turbocharged (naturally) and use common-rail direct injection. Output of the three engines varies much more in torque than in horsepower. The E200 CDI, with only a single-stage turbocharger, is rated at 266 lb-ft of torque. The E220 CDI upgrades to a dual-stage turbo and musters 295 lb-ft of torque. The E250 CDI pumps out a V-8-like 369 lb-ft. Interestingly, all three diesels achieve the same, 44 mpg combined fuel economy rating, with their standard six-speed manual gearbox.

The cloth in that car is very attractive looking, if a bit flat. I like the mousefur cloth in my Audi.

I thought that all knew how to get a vehicle registered in their name. Apparently from this forum it is not common knowledge here.

Here is how it goes...

1 Park the car on your property, perhaps do some work on it like an oil change.

2 Register a mechanics Lien on the vehicle for non payment of storage and/or work.

3 Apply to your state or provincial licensing authority for the title based on the Mechanic's Lien.

4 Open the mail with your new title in your name.

You will still have the DOT problem, they want to crush your car. A sharp lawyer will bankrupt you in the event of an accident etc.

For a barn find or other unusual circumstances where title is not available this works well.

Now for Free Health Care . . .

Go to airport for free X-rays and Breast exams.
Mention AlQuada for upgrade to free colonoscopy. Now that was easy!

Given the government's record on locating and dealing with humans who are in the country illegally, I wonder how effective they are at finding and dealing with cars that are in the country illegally.

SOLD

Getting a title for it in my state would not have been a problem. And no problems with the DOT according to my DMV.

The car was the personal vehicle of an employee working at the German consulate. He brought it over in 2006 and sold it to his mechanic when he returned to Germany last fall.

It's 4 cyl CDI engine produces almost the same power as the 606na in our 1996 E300D. A little less HP and a little more torque. The CDI system is more efficient and is rated at 43mpg with the automatic.

I run my diesels on VO. The mechanical injection system on the 606's is easier to convert than the CDI system. It can be done, but I have a lot of experience with the 606 and none with the CDI. So the price, with the cost of retrieving it from CA, was about equal to what a 1999 or '98 turbo would cost. I think that my lead foot wife will want a turbo as her next car.

When talking to the seller, I got the idea that he paid about $2500 for it and drove it for about 6 months.
