This Friday we headed off to Whistler Mountain near Vancouver for an end of season ski instructor's boot camp. Had a great time and part of the great time was definitely the road trip.
We took the 300SD for this wonderful drive through the semi-arid BC interior plateau, along part of the Fraser Valley and then through the winding and twisty highway 99 from Cache Creek to Whistler Mountain. If you Google the route we took from Vernon BC to Whistler BC via Kamloops you will see the route.
The Benz performed flawlessly apart from one hiccup when we stopped in a completely deserted spot. Got back in the car, turned the key and nothing - no ignition light, zippo. Jiggle jiggle, turned key again, ignition light but no starter, not even the solenoid click. Check cellphone - location too remote for service! Cuss, sweat, jiggle jiggle, turn key .... bingo. I think my ignition switch is telling me something. Of course this never happens when we are in town
Mileage over mountain roads was 9.1 L/100kms or 25.8 miles per US gallon - speed varied and much uphill and downhill!
