Very cool! a note on the squeaking. what you might have heard was the little fan under the dash. mine squeaks from time to time. if it's a loud annoying one then it's your fan, Lube it before it's too late. it's a real B---- to change (ask me how I know) Glad your wagon made it!

A job well done. No venture no gain.

What an uneventful cross country trek. I always knew you would make it.

Humble pie anyone? There are a few nay-sayer here and it is time to eat their humble pie(s).

see post # 58 and 61. There is NOTHING for me to do if I accompany the OP to do the trek.

The idling and the soot-covered cars behind you were likely due to the removed ALDA, some don't mind smoking like a tractor-puller though.

Happy you made it, too bad you didn't stop so I could've strapped a bunch of extra parts to your roof rack ;~) Now my trash man will have to deal with full cans for the next few weeks.

how did you sleep? On top of all your stuff that I see in the picture? Seems like a pretty full car to displace much easily.

Slept on top of four storage boxes. On top of the boxes put some 3 inch foam and then my sleeping pad and sleeping bag. Tight fit but I was able to sleep about 6 hours both nights.

I wish I was in a rust free environment. I'm right near the ocean and we get a lot of fog as well.

This weekend I hope to have time to fix some of the lingering problems but all in all I'm happy my car is with me and I'm looking forward to doing a 50/50 mixture of WVO and diesel.

If you have a good car, like you knew she was, then X country road trips are a good thing. I delivered a 560 SEL to Georgia from So. CA. in 4 days. Had allowed 6 days for the trip. I drove 500 + miles a day because I did not have a time schedule to meet. I did not do a lot of sight seeing as I have made the trip across Us 40 several times, but once I left 40 I did sight see from the main highways. Was a fun trip. and the 560 averaged 18 mpg and she was set at 70 or more the whole trip. About the only thing I did that I made my mind up I was going to do was to eat dinner at the Tall Texan in Amarillo and got to see a guy polish off that 72 Oz. steak they advertise for "Free" if you can eat it all in an hour. my steak on the other hand was much smaller, but very good, the western swing band that walked from table to table was very entertaining.
Car performed very well and only used 1/2 quart oil for the whole 2,330 + mile trip.
Did meet up with Daw_two in Memphis, and went to dinner at a place he knew and that was fun. Then next afternoon I arrived in Peachtree City Georgia and deliverd Sylvia to Tayor 422 and his dad.
