Right above the upper radiator hose- is this temp gauge? I've got a leak and it appears as though it is coming from this fitting. I run biodiesel and believe it is a fuel leak but am not certain- the wife's car, just glanced at it the other night.

I wasn't sure if this sender goes to the fuel somehow because I know my motor has a fuel pre-heat loop by the coolant. Either its this sender or the primary fuel filter which is just above it and to the right in the photo. Or its engine coolant but it sure doesnt smell like that.

I wiped it with a rag before I took this pic, the fluid was laying in next to the sender.

That is a coolant temp sensor. If it is leaking it will be leaking coolant. Does the leaking stuff smell like diesel fuel?

hard to tell, it was pouring down rain yesterday. It appears to look more like oil than antifreeze- I wiped the whole area down and will check it out later tonight. I really need to powerwash the whole engine first.... thanks for your reply

You would benefit from wasting a can of brake cleaner on and around the prefilter/fuel filter housing, IP and all fuel lines.

Jim,
Do you know if the 95 606 has more than one coolant temp sensor? My gauge is really jumpy and changing that sensor wouldn't be a big pain. Sorry to hijack...not really. Regards.

I sprayed it pretty well with our biodiesel glycerin degreaser, just need to head over to the car wash and powerwash it all off. It never leaked a drop of fluids in 2 years until the past month or so- a few spots on the garage floor that look like engine oil. It looked like it may have been coming from near the middle of the intake manifold (which I had off last year) so I cranked down on those bolts a little more.

Its the wifes daily driver so its hard to get time to look at it

Be careful cranking down on those fasteners.
I'll bet you a cookie that you are seeing diesel fuel. You are going to need to check everything out underneath the intake manifold. Can you get underneath the car with a good flashlight and look up under the intake manifold?

x2

careful on the bolts. 10 nm is enough.
EGR is easy to disable on this model. Keeps gunk out of intake.
Bet you a cookie that its the steering box that is leaking.

two temp sensors on this one. one in front ( pic) and when in the rear near the oil filter housing. Front one defintely controls the high speed fan.

Do you have Viton return lines on yet? Thinking a return line is leaking and its pooling there.

original fuel lines, I powerwashed it pretty well today, will keep an eye on it. Thanks for the tips so far!

EGR already disabled when I put new GP and GP wiring harness in 2 yrs ago :)
