belt tensioner on 300sdl
Hi,ya'll, got a small problem with the new 300 sdl I just got. It seems that the ten spring has gone missing and the ilder pulley is now sitting on the crankpulley which means I can't drive it. It seems that the crank pulley is not spining very fast, is there a flex plate on the crank pulley? As soon as I get off this towboat I'm going to tackle this problem any help would be great. I work as a chief engineer on a 3800 hp boat with 16 cyl emd diesels.:(

No flex plate. Consider replacing the shock when you do the spring.

If the crank pulley is not spinning correctly, it is possible that the woodruff key is sheared which can damage the crank.
The pulley is a harmonic-balancer. If you need one / damaged, let me know. |

when I get home will really find out what's up. Will I have to pull the rad to get to the crank pulley? i saw on another post about a habor feight tool to lock the crank. Do you know if diy has anything on pulling the crank pulley and thanks, I'll post some pics of the diesels I work on. They are 2 stoke diesels the same as in trains, each cyl is 645 cu in.
