injection pump

can you put a injection pump from a turbo Mercedes Benz to a 1977 300d non-turbo Diesel Mercedes Benz

non-turbo injection pump number Pes5mw55Rs15

From turbo Engine benz Pes5mw55/320 ors16

can you put that into the non turbo benz?

Sure why not... who knows whether it'd be optimal.

YES! When the WVO wiped out my injection pump I could not find a good IP pump for my '81 300d. I had a IP from an "83 300SD in the shop with over 300k miles on it and used that. The car runs smoother with NO smoke than it ever did with the old pump.

One issue is that the turbo pumps put out more fuel in cc's per stroke than the non-turbo ones. I suspect that since my donor pump had so many miles and was not putting out as much when it was new, that compensated for an over fueling condition that I could have had.

I actually shot a video on it that was never finished so I will put that on my list to load up here soon.

It looks weird under my hood seen the ALDA on a non-turbo car and it confuses those who know.....:D

heh, then you can add a turbo intake and exhaust... then a turbo!

Diesel Giant 04-03-2011 07:20 PM

Yep that would be the ticket! Just lacks some of the turbo internal goodies like piston cooling nozzles etc. But it would work fine.

vstech 04-03-2011 07:22 PM

yeah, as long as you kept the boost below 10psi you should be fine.
EGT gauge would be recommended of course.
